ENNI Energie & Umwelt Niederrhein GmbH (Enni) is planning the construction of a high-performance battery storage system at the Eurotec Technology Park in Moers. The facility, with a power output of 17 MW and a capacity of 40 MWh is planned to go live in October 2025. This battery storage system will play a key role in stabilising the grid and ensuring energy security in the Lower Rhine region. The storage will be built on a roughly 1,000-square-metre site within the fresh wood-fired cogeneration plant, which Enni is developing in cooperation with Stadtwerke Dinslaken.

The battery storage system is used to store surpluses from renewable energies and feed them into the grid within seconds when required. This not only stabilises the regional power grid but also secures critical infrastructure, such as municipal water supply, in the event of power outages. The durable and low-maintenance battery modules can store up to 34,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity within two hours—a crucial component in balancing the increasing volatility caused by solar and wind energy.
Long-Term Partnership with Entrix
