Industrial storage — key to efficient energy and sustainable success
C&I stands for Commercial and Industrial storage solutions — battery systems typically ranging from about 250 kW to 5 MW, often installed directly on company sites. They help businesses reduce electricity costs, maximize self consumption, increase autonomy, and lower grid fees. A distinction is generally made between behind the meter (BTM) and front of the meter (FTM): while BTM storage is primarily used for internal consumption, FTM storage is directly connected to the grid and can participate in the energy market. Things become especially interesting when companies leverage their storage systems for energy trading — either in combination with self consumption or as a stand alone unit.

Can I use my battery for both peak shaving and energy market trading?
In principle, yes but usually through two separate storage architectures: a behind the meter (BTM) battery for load optimization and a front of the meter (FTM) battery for market participation. For system design including PV and controllable loads, we work with specialized partners. Entrix handles the optimization and trading of the FTM battery.
Is it possible to connect battery storage systems above 5 MW?
Yes. Provided grid connection and space are available, significantly larger storage projects can be implemented. Entrix can fully integrate, optimize, and trade such utility scale batteries on a market basis.
